Survival Research Labs Returning to LA

Survival Research Labs LogoSurvival Research Labs (SRL), the performance art group infamous for their apocalyptic robot battles, is returning to Los Angeles this Saturday, January 21st to begin a one month exhibition at Fringe Exhibitions in Chinatown. There will be a two hour opening reception from 6 to 8 pm. The exhibition will include photos from past performances, video of SRL’s last show in downtown LA, and much of the hardware fans have come to fear and respect, including the Sneaky Soldiers, the newest members of SRL’s remote controlled army.

Founded by Mark Pauline in 1978, SRL has since staged over 50 performances on 3 continents combining robots and other machines with special effects to make a unique statement about technology, politics, the military, and humanity. Coincidentally, it was just a few days ago that I wrote about SRL alumnus Michael Shiloh’s new website, LinuxRobots.org.

More details about the exhibition can be found at the Fringe Exhibitions website.
