Euclidean Metric

 

Also known as the Euclidean distance, the Euclidean metric is the straight line distance between two points in Euclidean space.

For the set \mathbb{R}, the Euclidean metric is the absolute value function on \mathbb{R} x \mathbb{R}:

(a, b) \mapsto |a - b|
