arithmetic sequence

 

In mathematics, an arithmetic sequence, also sometimes called an arithmetic progression, is a sequence of numbers with a constant difference between consecutive elements.

The natural numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, … form an arithmetic sequence where the difference between consecutive numbers is simply 1. An arithmetic sequence with a difference of 5 between consecutive terms would look like 5, 10, 15, 20, …
